New Delhi: KONE Elevator, in collaboration with Smile Foundation, has launched the Smile on Wheels mobile clinic project in Delhi to provide doorstep primary healthcare services across 14 urban colonies and communities, directly benefitting around 90,000 individuals.

The mobile medical unit was flagged off by Amit Gossain, Managing Director, India and South Asia, KONE, in the presence of Smile Foundation Executive Director Puneet Bali and Director Programme (Health & Women Health) Dr Rashmi Ardey.

Equipped with a qualified MBBS doctor, paramedical staff, basic diagnostic facilities, and point-of-care services, the mobile clinic will offer free outpatient consultations, medicines, and preventive health awareness sessions. The initiative also aims to familiarise communities with government health schemes, thereby improving access and affordability of care.

In addition to primary consultations, the project will run awareness programmes on maternal health, immunisation, non-communicable diseases, and antenatal and postnatal care. Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities will be organised to promote preventive healthcare practices, while referrals to higher-level medical services will be facilitated when required.

The Smile on Wheels mobile unit will operate in areas including Madanpur Khadar, Harikesh Colony, Subhash Camp, Aali village, Jasola Park, and Aali Vihar.

“At KONE, we believe that businesses must play a meaningful role in shaping healthier, stronger communities. Access to primary healthcare remains a pressing need, and through this initiative with Smile Foundation, we aim to bridge that gap by taking quality healthcare directly to people’s doorsteps,” said Amit Gossain, Managing Director, India and South Asia, KONE.

“Healthcare is a crucial service in ensuring the wellbeing and prosperity of the community. Our mobile medical units have emerged as an effective model in bringing healthcare services to the doorsteps of people. Through this partnership with Kone Elevator, we are further enhancing our efforts to take primary healthcare to the communities and thereby complementing the government’s mission,” stated Smile Foundation Co-founder, Santanu Mishra.

This marks the second Smile on Wheels project jointly operated by KONE and Smile Foundation, following the successful launch in Guwahati, Assam, in March 2023.

In 2024–25, Smile Foundation’s healthcare programme reached over two million individuals through 93 Mobile Medical Units, 10 Mobile Telemedicine Units, 4 Mobile Dental Units, and 4 Static Clinics across 90 districts in 22 states, strengthening community health access nationwide.
