Suzlon to shift entire vehicle fleet to electric by 2035 under global EV100 initiative

New Delhi: Renewable energy solutions company Suzlon has announced that it will transition its entire fleet of vehicles to electric mobility by 2035, marking a new phase in its decarbonisation strategy.

The move comes after the company’s earlier commitment to power all its facilities with 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030. By joining the global EV100 initiative of Climate Group, Suzlon has pledged to replace 655 vehicles across its operations with electric vehicles. The plan covers both owned and leased vehicles in the 3.5T and 3.5–7.5T categories.

According to the company, this step will directly cut down Scope 1 emissions, which originate from sources owned or controlled by Suzlon, particularly its vehicular fleet. The target aligns with its broader goal of achieving net zero Scope 1 emissions by 2035.

EV100 is a global initiative that brings together companies committed to making electric transport the norm by 2030. Suzlon is the first Indian renewable energy company to join the initiative.

Founded three decades ago, Suzlon has installed more than 21 GW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries, including 15.2 GW in India. Headquartered in Pune, the group has in-house R&D centres in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and India, along with manufacturing facilities across the country. Its workforce of over 8,100 supports the design, manufacture and deployment of wind turbines in the 2.x MW and 3.x MW series.

The company said that electrifying its fleet would cut carbon emissions, reduce fuel dependence, and add momentum to India’s push towards a Net Zero future.
