Jaipur: Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has commissioned NHPC’s 300 MW (AC) DCR-compliant solar project at Karnisar Bhatiyan in Bikaner, delivering one of the largest solar installations built in Rajasthan’s arid landscape. The project, developed over two and a half years, uses advanced DCR cells and bifacial modules, with nearly 7.75 lakh panels installed across challenging desert terrain.

The entire power output will be supplied to the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL). Over its lifetime, the plant is expected to generate close to 17,230 million units of clean energy.

TPREL said the project dealt with extreme temperatures and difficult vehicle movement through precision ramming and by using heat-resistant inverters suited for harsh conditions. More than 300 local workers were engaged, alongside efforts to build local vendor capacity.

With this commissioning, TPREL’s third-party project portfolio has crossed 4.9 GW. The company’s total renewable utility capacity now stands at 11.6 GW, including 5.8 GW in operation. Another 5.8 GW is under implementation and is scheduled for completion over the next two years.

Ahead of the announcement, Tata Power’s stock closed 1.12% higher at ₹392.75 on the NSE on Monday.
