New Delhi: The Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) at NTPC Kanti concluded on 19th May 2024, after a month-long program that began on 25th April 2024. The initiative aimed to nurture the skills and talents of 40 girls from neighbouring villages, representing eight schools.
The closing ceremony featured cultural performances, including dances and dramas, by the participants. The event was led by the Head of the Project, who praised the girls' remarkable talent and the initiative's success. The program started with a traditional worship of Lord Ganesh, followed by performances that highlighted the girls' enthusiasm and hard work.
This was the first time GEM was held at NTPC Kanti, offering the girls an educational experience focused on self-improvement, personality development, skill enhancement, music, dance, and self-defence. The initiative aimed to equip the girls with essential life skills and boost their confidence.
The Head of the Project commended NTPC Kanti for instilling confidence in the girls and encouraged them to apply their new skills to bring honour to their families and communities. The Head of HR and GEM Coordinator at Kanti emphasized the importance of continued success and urged the girls to share their knowledge with others.
Senior officials from NTPC, including the General Manager (C&M/TS), attended the event, showing their support for the girls' achievements and the company's commitment to empowering young women.
