IREDA is attempting to address issues of MSMEs: CMD

New Delhi: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) is making efforts to address the issues of MSMEs to ensure their participation in renewable energy (RE) sector, said Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA, while speaking at ‘MSME Banking Conclave 2022’ here recently. He said that IREDA is committed to increasing the participation of MSMEs in the renewable sector by offering loan facilities.

Das stated that while MSMEs only represent 1.86 per cent of the company’s total loan assets of Rs 33,884 crore, ending May 2022, IREDA is attempting to address the issues of MSMEs in order to increase their participation in the RE sector. He emphasized that the target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 cannot be achieved without the considerable participation of MSMEs.

“Therefore, MSME’s efforts will be a crucial driver of Atma Nirbhar Bharat,” he said, adding that he is quite confident that India will easily achieve the target of 50 per cent share of energy from non-fossil fuels and also the 500 GW renewable energy capacity before the deadline of 2030 set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Das highlighted that despite second and third waves of Covid-19 pandemic, IREDA has reported historic all-time high annual Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 634 crore and profit before tax (PBT) of Rs 834 crore in the FY 2021-22, registering a massive growth of 82.88 per cent and 46.41 per cent, respectively over FY 2020-21. It is worth mentioning that IREDA is the first CPSE to publish its audited financial results within 30 days ensuring its commitment to the highest standards of corporate governance. /BI/
