Shimla: In a significant move towards environmental conservation, SJVN, formerly known as Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, organised a large-scale tree plantation drive near Ghannati, Shimla, as part of the nationwide Plant4Mother campaign.
Bhawna Sharma, Chief Patron of the Satluj Shree Ladies Club, led the initiative by planting an oak tree. She emphasised the critical importance of environmental conservation and the role each individual can play in preserving natural resources for future generations. She praised SJVN for its leadership in this essential campaign, underscoring the company's commitment to fostering a greener and more sustainable India.
Sanjeev Gupta, Head of Department and Chief General Manager Environment, highlighted the importance of the campaign and its broader environmental objectives. He noted that SJVN's participation aligns with the national agenda of increasing green cover and encourages others to adopt environmentally friendly practices. This initiative is part of a broader movement aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting biodiversity.
The plantation drive, which saw the planting of 200 oak trees, was attended by senior officials of SJVN, Madhurima Singh, Chairperson of the Satluj Shree Ladies Club, SJVN employees, and other stakeholders. /BI
