SJVN powers ahead with Bikaner Solar Project, adds 78.23 MW to grid

New Delhi: SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), the renewable energy arm of SJVN, has achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) for an additional 78.23 MW capacity of the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project. This follows the earlier commissioning of 241.77 MW (Phase-1) on 2 April 2025.

Located in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, the project is being developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III, of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. The full 1000 MW capacity is expected to be commissioned by the third quarter of 2025.

Once completed, solar power generated from the project will be supplied to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.

The project is being implemented under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, providing a boost to the Make in India initiative and supporting local solar manufacturing industries.

The Bikaner Solar Power Project is aligned with India’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. It also supports SJVN’s growth trajectory of becoming a 25,000 MW company by 2030 and reaching 50,000 MW by 2040.
