IRCTC rolls out SwaRail app, bringing all railway services under one roof

New Delhi: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a new mobile application named SwaRail, aimed at offering a unified platform for a complete range of railway services. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the app is currently available in open beta (version v127) for Android users on the Google Play Store. An iOS version is yet to be released.

Billed as a "SuperApp", SwaRail combines ticket booking, PNR status checks, live train tracking, meal ordering, and tourism-related services into a single interface. “This app gives a wholesome experience instead of partials one offered by numerous apps, delivering a unhindered and smooth travelling experience,” according to the launch statement.

The app allows users to log in with their existing IRCTC credentials or register through its Single Sign-On (SSO) feature. The streamlined dashboard is designed for ease of use, enabling passengers to switch between services like train status updates, station details, and catering without having to switch tabs or repeatedly log in.

Live train tracking is among the key features, offering real-time updates on train schedules, delays, and platform numbers, a function aimed at reducing uncertainty during journeys.

While the app is available for Android users, those using iPhones will have to wait for the iOS rollout. As the app is still in open beta mode, users may experience occasional technical glitches.
