New Delhi: Sahitya Akademi, India’s premier literary institution, is participating in the 75th edition of the prestigious Frankfurt International Book Fair, taking place from 16 to 20 October 2024 in Frankfurt, Germany. Frankfurter Buchmesse, the world's largest trade fair for books, gathers the best publishers and authors from around the globe. In this edition, Sahitya Akademi will showcase 100 of its titles and engage with leading publishers worldwide to exchange permissions. This effort is part of Sahitya Akademi’s commitment to promoting Indian literature beyond the shores of India.
 

In addition to professional publishing engagements, Sahitya Akademi will organise three literary events at the fair. On 16 October 2024, there will be a panel discussion on the “Literary Heritage of India,” featuring eminent writers and scholars including Badri Narayan, Dhananjay Singh, and Vishwas Patil. Later that evening, a “Meet the Author” programme will take place with Vishwas Patil. Both events will be moderated by Dr K. Sreenivasarao, Secretary of Sahitya Akademi. Badri Narayan is an esteemed poet and Director and Professor at the G.B. Pant Institute of Social Science in Allahabad, while Dhananjay Singh serves as the Member Secretary of ICSSR. Vishwas Patil is a noted Marathi writer and scholar.
 

On 17 October, a Meet the Author event is scheduled with Badri Narayan, also moderated by the Secretary of Sahitya Akademi. The Akademi sends delegations of Indian writers to attend the fair whenever it participates, enabling them to gain firsthand exposure to various literatures from around the world and interact with distinguished minds from diverse countries.
