CBSE declares 2025 board results: Over 36 lakh students qualify across Class 10 and 12

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the results for the 2025 Class 10 and 12 board examinations, confirming that more than 36 lakh students have successfully cleared the exams.

For Class 12, a total of 17,04,367 students were registered. Out of these, 16,92,794 appeared for the exams and 14,96,307 have passed. The results are available on the official websites - cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and results.cbse.nic.in.

Meanwhile, Class 10 results were also declared today. Conducted from February 15 to March 18 in a pen-and-paper format, the Class 10 exams saw participation from 24.12 lakh students across 84 subjects.

This year’s Class 12 results showed a slight rise in the overall pass percentage compared to last year. Girls have once again outperformed boys in Class 10, continuing a trend seen in previous years.

From 2024–25 onwards, CBSE introduced a new ‘Relative Grading’ system, moving away from the older fixed-range model. Unlike before, where a score between 91–100 earned an A1, the updated approach compares student performance with that of their peers. Grade boundaries now shift depending on subject trends and the distribution of passing candidates.

In total, over 42 lakh students sat for the CBSE board exams held between February 15 and April 4, 2025. The Class 12 exams concluded on April 4, and Class 10 wrapped up earlier on March 18.

For students seeking digital access to their marksheets and certificates, CBSE has made the documents available via DigiLocker. “Once the CBSE results are declared, students can log into DigiLocker using the credentials and Access Code provided. CBSE will also send DigiLocker login details to students via SMS on their registered mobile numbers. Through this platform, students will be able to download verified digital copies of their marksheets and certificates.”

The board has clarified that a minimum of 33 per cent marks is required to pass. However, grace marks may be awarded if a student falls short by a single mark or so.
