Alok Ranjan appointed NCRB Chief, Amit Garg to lead National Police Academy

New Delhi: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers Alok Ranjan and Amit Garg have been appointed to prominent leadership roles. Alok Ranjan, a 1991-batch IPS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been named Director of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), serving until his superannuation on June 30, 2026. He succeeds batchmate Vivek Gogia, who has been repatriated to the AGMUT cadre.

 

Amit Garg, a 1993-batch IPS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, takes charge as the Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad. His tenure will continue until his retirement on October 31, 2027.

 

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also approved the promotion of four senior IPS officers, all from the 1993 batch, as Special Directors in the Intelligence Bureau (IB): Rithwik Rudra (Himachal Pradesh cadre), Mahesh Dixit (Andhra Pradesh cadre), Praveen Kumar (West Bengal cadre), and Arvind Kumar (Bihar cadre).

 

Additionally, Praveer Ranjan, a 1993-batch officer from the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed Special Director General (Special DG) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for two years. Vitul Kumar (ADG, CRPF) and R Prasad Meena (ADG, BSF) have been appointed Special DGs in their respective forces, with Vitul Kumar serving until August 31, 2028, and Meena until July 31, 2025. /BI
