New Delhi: The central deputation tenure of Satyendra Kumar, an IPS officer of the 2007 Rajasthan cadre, has been extended by an additional three months in his role as Director in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
An official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) confirmed that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension. Kumar’s new tenure will now continue until 24 December 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Kumar is an experienced civil servant with expertise in sustainable development, environmental policies, and environmental management. He has been involved in managing projects and programmes related to chemicals and waste, air pollution, circular economy, resource efficiency, climate change, and biodiversity. He has also contributed to the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. Additionally, Kumar has extensive experience coordinating with national and international stakeholders, including UN agencies, GEF, G20, BRICS, and SCO. He has played a significant role in shaping national environmental policies, focusing on circular economy and resource efficiency for sustainable industrial development. /BI
