New Delhi: The Central Government has appointed Swaminathan Janakiraman as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a three-year term. Janakiraman, currently serving as the Managing Director of State Bank of India (SBI), will take over from Mahesh Kumar Jain, whose tenure concludes on June 22.
Mahesh Kumar Jain was initially appointed as a Deputy Governor in June 2018 for a three-year term and subsequently re-appointed in June 2021 for an additional two years. His contributions to the RBI have been widely recognized during his tenure.
