Andhra Pradesh aims to become India's drone capital with investment and innovation

New Delhi: The Andhra Pradesh government is making significant efforts to position the state as India’s drone capital, according to Dinesh Kumar, Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh Drone Corporation.

The upcoming Amaravati Drone Summit-2024, scheduled for October 22-23, aims to attract investment and promote innovation within the drone manufacturing sector. Dinesh Kumar highlighted the summit's goal of creating a platform for discussions on drone technology and its applications across various industries.

The event is expected to host over 1,000 delegates, including officials from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, defence representatives, academics, and industry regulators. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will officially open the summit at 10 am on October 22 at CK Conventions in Mangalagiri.

The two-day event will offer free entry for enthusiasts, allowing them to explore advanced solutions from 40 exhibitors showcasing various applications of drone technology. Key discussion topics will include the current landscape of drone technology, regulatory reforms, and strategies for building a comprehensive drone ecosystem through innovation hubs and certification agencies.

The Andhra Pradesh government is actively contributing to this ecosystem by providing manufacturing incentives and regulatory support to attract major players in the drone industry. "Our aim is to create a favourable investment environment, making Andhra Pradesh a hub for drone innovation," Kumar remarked.

Currently, drones are being utilised in various government functions, including mapping hospitals, managing disasters, and distributing food during emergencies. The summit will also delve into the future impacts of drone technology, especially its potential to improve governance and everyday life.

On the evening of October 22, attendees can look forward to a grand cultural celebration at Punnami Ghat in Vijayawada.
