TRIFED collaborates with NIFT and HPMC to expand market access for tribal products

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey informed the Rajya Sabha today that TRIFED has partnered with organisations such as NIFT and HPMC to promote tribal entrepreneurship. These collaborations, formalised through agreements in February 2025, aim to enhance market access for tribal artisans through both online and offline platforms.

The agreements focus on improving product design, integrating technology, and expanding market opportunities for tribal artisans. By strengthening the reach of tribal products, the initiative seeks to preserve and promote indigenous culture while supporting sustainable livelihoods, including for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

TRIFED facilitates the sale of tribal products through TRIBES India outlets, e-commerce platforms, and exhibitions. Collaborations with various organisations are expected to further increase the visibility of tribal craftsmanship by establishing production clusters, ensuring direct market access, and implementing fair pricing mechanisms.

More than 13,000 products crafted by tribal artisans have been onboarded onto e-commerce platforms through TRIFED’s efforts. Based on specific proposals, similar partnerships may be expanded to further enhance the market reach of tribal products.
