Giving information, Additional Chief Secretary, Skill Development and Industrial Training Department, Devender Singh said that approximately more than 5500 trainees of ITIs would be benefited under this DST scheme.
He said that during last year, the State had introduced the Dual System of Training (DST) in 27 ITIs, wherein 71 trade Units had been started to enable industry linkages and to provide hands-on experience to students on the latest machinery and technologies.
Around 1,300 students enrolled under the scheme during the session 2019-20 and 422 DST trainees have been trained recently under DST scheme and 230 out of these 422, have been received pre-placement offers, he added.
He said that the DST is an amalgamation of theoretical training through ITIs and practical through the industry. The students will get on-the-job training ranging from 6 months to 12 months in the Industries. With this, the prospects of trainees getting jobs will improve manifold, he added.
Devender Singh said “It was a long- pending demand of the Industry associations that the ITI pass outs don’t have adequate knowledge about the latest machinery and are not conversant with the work environment in the Industry.”
Singh said that in order to reduce the disconnect between the trainee’s learning outcomes and the Industry’s requirements, the Department has given special attention to the DST scheme. He said that the Department would review its performance and an effective implementation of DST would be ensured.
