IAS officer Malay Shrivastava appointed MP PEB chairman

New Delhi: Malay Shrivastava has been appointed new Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (PEB), earlier known as Vyapam. Shrivastava, a 1990 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, will replace ICP Keshri.        

PEB is a self-financed, autonomous incorporated body of the state government of Madhya Pradesh. The board was initially set-up as Pre Medical Test Board by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in 1970. In 1981, the Pre Engineering Board was constituted. In 1982, both the boards were amalgamated and named as Professional Examination Board (PEB) by the government order No. 1325-1717-42-82 dated 17.04.1982.

The Board was assigned the responsibility of conducting entrance tests for admission of various colleges in the state. The Government enacted Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board Act 2007 in order to reorganize the activities of the board and provide new directions on policy and organizational matters.

The Professional Examination Board (PEB) is currently the Largest Entrance Recruitment and Selection conducting body in India. It conducts approximately 30 entrance, recruitment and selection examinations in a year. On an average, approximately 20 lakh applicants take part in the examinations conducted by the PEB. /BI/
