14 IAS/IPS officers repatriated to Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi: In a significant move, the Union Government has turned down requests from 14 senior IAS and IPS officers currently serving in Telangana to continue their postings in the state. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions (DoPT) has instructed these officers to return to their Andhra Pradesh cadre by October 16.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) confirmed that the allocation process was conducted in line with established guidelines, ensuring no discriminatory practices were involved. Among the IAS officers now repatriated to Andhra Pradesh are Amrapali Kata, Commissioner of GHMC; D. Ronald Rose, Energy Secretary; A. Vani Prasad, Tourism Secretary; Vakati Karuna, Women & Child Development Secretary; and M. Prashanti, Forests & Environment Secretary. Other officials include NTR District Collector Gummella Srijana, Kadapa Collector Siva Sankar Lotheti, G. Hari Kiran, and Special Chief Secretary Anantha Ramu, who had previously been allotted to Andhra Pradesh but challenged their allocation. They remained in Telangana as the state government at the time did not permit them to work in Andhra Pradesh.

Additionally, IPS officers Anjani Kumar, Abhilasha Bisht, and Abhishek Mohanty, who were allocated to Andhra Pradesh but continued their postings in Telangana, are also part of this order. IPS officer Santosh Mehra has already retired from service.

A single-member committee, chaired by retired IAS officer Deepak Khandekar, was appointed to review the matter, and the committee upheld the DoPT's decision.
