New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved 10 appointments to senior overseas assignments across key multilateral financial institutions, international organisations and Indian diplomatic missions, while also granting a two-year extension to Hemang Jani’s tenure as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director at the World Bank, Washington DC.

Jani, a public policy and governance expert who previously served as Secretary to the Capacity Building Commission and contributed to the implementation of Mission Karmayogi, will continue in his current assignment until 16 July 2029, or until the appointment of his successor or further orders, whichever is earlier. He has also served in the Prime Minister’s Office, where he worked on the Atal Innovation Mission, and has prior experience with the World Bank.

The fresh appointments span the Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), World Trade Organization (WTO), SAARC Secretariat, and Indian Missions in Tokyo, Rome and Washington DC, reinforcing India’s representation in key economic, financial and strategic institutions.

Among the senior-level appointments, Baldeo Purushartha, IAS (Punjab; 2002), Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, has been appointed Senior Adviser to the Executive Director at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila, for a period of three years. Rahul Jain, IAS (Madhya Pradesh; 2005), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has been appointed Senior Adviser to the Executive Director (India) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington DC, also for three years.

The ACC has also approved the appointment of Brij Mohan Mishra, IAS (AGMUT; 2008) as Minister (Economic & Commercial) at the Embassy of India, Tokyo, after the completion of the incumbent’s tenure in April 2027, and Balamurugan D., IAS (Bihar; 2005) as Minister (Agriculture) at the Embassy of India, Rome, after the incumbent demits office in December 2026.

Further, Satyajit Mohanty, IRS (C⁢ 1999), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, has been appointed as India’s Representative to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Montreal, for a three-year tenure.

At the Director level, Kapil Patidar, IES (2011), Director in the Department of Economic Affairs, has been appointed Adviser to the Executive Director (India) at the IMF, Washington DC. Gopalakrishnan Ganesan, IRAS (2009), Director in the Ministry of Steel, has been appointed Counsellor (Economic) in the Economic Wing of the Embassy of India, Washington DC, after the completion of the incumbent’s tenure in August 2026.

The ACC has also appointed Aditya Rajendra Bhojgadhiya, IA&AS (2013), Joint Director at the National Testing Agency, as First Secretary at India’s Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva. Jivisha Joshi Gangopadhyay, IRTS (2013), Deputy Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), has been appointed First Secretary (Legal) at the same mission.

In another appointment, Subhash Kumar, IDAS (2011), Director in the Ministry of Defence, has been named Director at the SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu, for a period of three years.
