Naidu’s administration reshuffles top bureaucratic ranks

Hyderabad: Seven months into his tenure, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has implemented a significant reshuffle within the administrative and police hierarchies of Andhra Pradesh

Naidu’s administration reshuffles top bureaucratic ranks

Several senior IAS officers, such as Yerra Srilakshmi, Muralidhar Reddy, Mutyalaraju Revu, Madhavi Latha, and Neelakanta Reddy, remain in waiting for postings since June, shortly after Naidu's government took office. Some of these officers had previously worked closely with the former chief minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, or were seen as allies of the previous administration. Among them, one officer is currently on election duty in Delhi, while another is attending mid-career training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.

Noteworthy appointments include G. Sai Prasad, who had been a contender for the Chief Secretary position but ultimately was assigned as the special chief secretary for the Water Resources Department, serving ex officio as a special chief secretary to Naidu. Prasad, who had previously served as Naidu’s secretary from 2014 to 2019, now bypasses certain administrative approvals under the current arrangement.

Peeyush Kumar, previously principal secretary to the chief minister, has been reassigned as the principal finance secretary while retaining additional responsibilities in the Planning Department. Meanwhile, Suresh Kumar has been moved from Infrastructure and Investment to the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department.

Other significant changes include Bhaskar Katamneni’s transfer to the Department of IT, Electronics, and Communications, with additional responsibilities in Real-Time Governance and Grama Sachivalayam. Katamneni had previously overseen the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), which has now been taken over by Kanna Babu.

The police reshuffle also saw key changes, with Rajiv Kumar Meena appointed as chairman of the State Level Police Recruitment Board and Madhusudhana Reddy assuming the role of ADGP, Law and Order. Half a dozen officers, previously awaiting postings, have now been assigned new roles, albeit in positions considered less influential. These officers had reportedly been linked to the YSRCP during Jagan’s tenure.

Several suspended IPS officers remain without assignments, including N. Sanjay and P. Sitharama Anjaneyulu, who were suspended over allegations of misconduct. Others, such as PV Sunil Kumar, Kolli Raghuram Reddy, and Rishanth Reddy, are still waiting for new postings.
