Satish Golcha appointed as Delhi Police Commissioner

New Delhi: Satish Golcha, a senior IPS officer of the 1992 batch (AGMUT cadre), has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police, Delhi. The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a notification confirming his appointment, stating that he will hold the position until further orders.

 

Golcha has held several key responsibilities in the past, both within Delhi Police and in other assignments. He has earlier served as Special Commissioner (Intelligence) and Special Commissioner (Law & Order) in Delhi, overseeing sensitive areas of policing. His tenure as Director General (Prisons) also gave him extensive exposure to issues of prison reforms and management.

 

Beyond the capital, he has led police forces in Arunachal Pradesh, further adding to his wide administrative experience across different regions. With this background, Golcha brings a mix of field-level insight and institutional knowledge to his new role.

 

His appointment comes at a significant juncture for Delhi Police, which continues to balance issues of law enforcement, technology adoption, and citizen-centric policing.
