New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Sujoy Lal Thaosen has been appointed new Director General (DG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Thaosen is a 1988 batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He is currently posted as DGP of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and was holding the additional charge of ITBP chief as well.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) issued the order of appointment of Thaosen late evening on Saturday. The post of DG, CRPF, lying vacant with the superannuation of 1986 batch IPS officer Kuldiep Singh, who was the chief of India’s largest Central Armed Police Force till September 30.
The 59-year-old Thaosen was born in Haflong in Assam and holds a PhD degree from Ujjain University. He has served in forces like the Special Protection Group (SPG), which looks after the security of the Prime Minister of India. He also served in the Border Security Force (BSF) and the United Nations as a part of the international Police Task Force (IPTF).
It is worth mentioning that CRPF is the country’s largest paramilitary force with the strength of 3.25 lakh personnel. /BI/
