New Delhi: Marking a clear step towards cleaner operations, BEML Limited has launched its first fleet of electric vehicles at its Bengaluru headquarters. The move aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Go Green’ mission and comes just ahead of World Environment Day.
The public sector company flagged off 10 electric cars in the presence of Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy, functional directors, and senior officials. BEML also announced its plan to completely phase out diesel-powered vehicles from its fleet.
“On the eve of World Environment Day, this initiative is a reaffirmation of BEML’s deep-rooted commitment to environmental stewardship. Transitioning to electric vehicles is not just about reducing emissions—it’s about leading the way in sustainable practices and setting new benchmarks for the industry,” said Roy.
The launch forms the first step in a larger strategy to introduce EVs across BEML’s manufacturing complexes and regional offices. The company is also developing supporting infrastructure, including energy-efficient transport systems, to enable this shift.
This EV rollout strengthens BEML’s broader plan to work towards carbon neutrality, while also contributing to the growing adoption of clean energy within India’s public sector.
