New Delhi: JSW Renew Energy Eleven Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 700 MW solar project. The project, awarded under SECI’s Tranche XIII, is part of the government's efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure in India. The PPA has been signed for a 25-year period, with power being supplied at a tariff of Rs 2.56 per kWh.
The solar project is expected to be operational within 24 months, marking a significant step in JSW Energy’s goal to achieve 10 GW of operational capacity by the financial year 2025. Currently, the company operates 7.9 GW of power generation capacity, spanning thermal, hydro, and renewable energy sources.
In addition to expanding its generation capacity, JSW Energy is also focusing on energy storage, with 16.2 GWh of storage capacity secured through battery energy storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects. Looking ahead, the company aims to reach 20 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of storage capacity by 2030.
JSW Energy has set a long-term objective of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, and its latest project reflects its commitment to sustainable growth. Established in 2000, JSW Energy began operations with the commissioning of its first thermal power plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka. Today, it continues to build on its strong foundation of responsible corporate governance and strategic capital allocation, delivering value to its stakeholders while contributing to India's renewable energy ambitions.
