New Delhi: National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) delivered a strong performance in FY 2024–25, achieving significant growth in its industrial, non-fertilizer, and sustainable product segments. The company continues to diversify its portfolio and reduce dependence on urea, in alignment with the Government’s PM PRANAM initiative to promote soil health and balanced fertilizer use, said Dr. U. Saravanan, Chairman and Managing Director, in the company’s annual report.
NFL achieved total fertilizer sales of 63.37 LMT, including 37.32 LMT of own urea, 4.18 LMT of imported urea, 11.99 LMT of RFCL urea, and 9.88 LMT of non-urea fertilizers. The industrial products segment—comprising Nitric Acid, Ammonium Nitrate, and Sodium Nitrate/Nitrite—registered a 43% rise in revenue to Rs 673.48 crore, reflecting strong market demand.
Expanding its focus on non-subsidized fertilizers, the company introduced Potash Derived from Molasses (PDM), Fermented Organic Manure (FOM), and Water Soluble Fertilizers (WSF), recording sales of 44,681 MT of PDM during the year. The share of urea in overall sales has declined from 94.49% in 2015–16 to 66.98% in 2024–25, while the non-urea business now contributes 33.02% to total revenue—signifying successful diversification.
During the year, NFL reported a turnover of Rs 19,794.50 crore against Rs 23,560.31 crore in FY 2023–24, primarily due to a decrease in average gas prices. However, growth in non-fertilizer and industrial segments, coupled with product innovation, strengthened overall profitability and operational performance.
The company launched Urea Gold, a sulphur-coated urea to address soil sulphur deficiency, and initiated a Hi-Tech Nano Urea project at its Nangal unit to enhance nitrogen use efficiency. In line with its green energy commitment, rooftop solar power plants with a total capacity of 3,555 KWp are being set up across its Panipat, Nangal, Bathinda, and Vijaipur units.
NFL continued to empower farmers and women through multiple initiatives. Over 11,500 farmers benefited from soil health, nutrient management, and crop improvement programs, while more than 13,000 fertilizer shops have been converted into Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PMKSKs). Through the NaMo Drone Didi program, rural women in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh are being trained to operate drones for precision agriculture.
The company also spent Rs 680.55 lakh on CSR initiatives covering health, nutrition, education, and infrastructure development.
“With a favorable monsoon forecast and rising fertilizer demand, we are optimistic about achieving stronger performance in the coming year,” said Dr. Saravanan. “NFL will continue to leverage its diversified portfolio, technology-driven innovation, and sustainability focus to deliver long-term value for all stakeholders.”
