New Delhi: Oil India Ltd (OIL) has announced its commitment to establishing 25 compressed bio-gas (CBG) plants by 2025, as part of its larger effort to support India's transition towards cleaner energy. This initiative, carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, aims to contribute to the country's green energy goals, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable future.
The company has developed a strategic plan that focuses on diversifying into alternative energy sources, with a long-term goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2040. This move is expected to generate economic, environmental, and social benefits, reinforcing Oil India’s role in the nation’s energy sector.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually presided over the groundbreaking ceremonies of four key projects in Assam, led by Oil India, in the districts of Guwahati, Jorhat, Sivasagar, and Tinsukia. These projects align with the broader vision of promoting clean energy solutions across the country, and their establishment comes as part of the Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrations.
At the Sivasagar event, local community members, officials from Oil India, and representatives from the municipality were present, reinforcing the local support for the initiative.
