RECPDCL transfers Bhadla-III Power Transmission Limited to Powergrid

Gurugram: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a fully owned subsidiary of REC Limited under the Ministry of Power, has officially transferred Bhadla-III Power Transmission Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). The handover took place on 28 August 2024 in Gurugram, marking a significant milestone in the development of India's power transmission infrastructure.

PGCIL was selected as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) for the project through a Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process managed by RECPDCL, which served as the Bid Process Coordinator. The project involves the augmentation of the Bhadla-III Power Station, including the installation of 765/400 kV, 2x1500 MVA, and 400/220 kV, 2x500 MVA Interconnecting Transformers (ICT) and associated works. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

The formal transfer was conducted by TSC Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL, who handed over the SPV to Pankaj Pandey, Executive Director of PGCIL, and Satyaprakash Dash, Company Secretary of PGCIL. Senior officials from RECPDCL, PGCIL, and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited were also present at the ceremony.

RECPDCL has a broad portfolio, offering consultancy and expert project implementation services to various state power distribution companies and power departments across India. It has been instrumental in implementing transmission projects in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. In addition to its role as a Bid Process Coordinator for both inter-state and intra-state transmission projects, RECPDCL is actively involved in renewable energy bundling projects through TBCB.

REC Limited, the parent company of RECPDCL, is a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Power and is recognised as a Non-Banking Finance Company (NBFC), Public Financial Institution (PFI), and Infrastructure Financing Company (IFC) by the Reserve Bank of India. REC Limited finances a wide range of power infrastructure projects, including generation, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy. The company has also diversified into non-power infrastructure sectors such as roads, metro rail, airports, and social infrastructure projects.

This handover is part of REC's ongoing efforts to strengthen India's power sector, ensuring reliable and efficient energy delivery across the country. /BI
