New Delhi: South Eastern Coalfields (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India based in Chhattisgarh, has embarked on a special campaign to clear 2,200 metric tonnes of scrap across its offices. Running from October 2 to October 31, the initiative is part of a larger effort to promote cleanliness within government offices and address pending cases and complaints.
According to coal ministry officials, SECL’s scrap removal drive will not only free up substantial space for other uses but is also expected to bring in an additional revenue of around Rs 10 crore. The company has also committed to addressing and clearing outstanding physical and electronic files, as well as resolving long-pending public grievances.
The campaign aligns with the broader ‘Special Campaign 4.0’, under which SECL aims to streamline governance and enhance operational efficiency. In the first phase, the company actively participated in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative, which ran from September 14 to October 2. During this period, SECL focused on cleaning public spaces, particularly rivers, as part of its cleanliness drive.
In addition to the scrap removal efforts, SECL is celebrating the contributions of Safai Mitras, who play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness. Felicitation ceremonies are being held at the company’s headquarters and various operational areas to honour their work. To further spread the message of cleanliness, SECL is organising educational sessions called ‘Swachhata Ki Pathshala’ and conducting street plays to engage children and raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness.
