New Delhi: The Ministry of Coal has executed Coal Mine Development and Production Agreements with Damodar Valley Corporation for three commercial coal blocks, Dhulia North, Mandakini B, and Pirpainti Barahat. The blocks were awarded to the government-owned utility in the 13th round of commercial coal mining auctions.
The agreements mark progress in the country’s push to strengthen energy security while supporting economic growth. All three blocks are fully explored and together have a cumulative peak rated capacity of 49 million tonnes per annum, adding meaningful capacity to domestic coal supply.
The projects are expected to generate about 66,248 direct and indirect jobs, contributing to livelihood creation and regional development in coal-bearing regions.
The government continues to expand domestic coal production through a transparent, competitive, and investor-friendly auction framework. The approach is aimed at securing long-term energy needs, boosting economic activity, and promoting inclusive development in line with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
