Jaipur: In Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district, the administration is taking the Nasha Mukt Sri Ganganagar campaign directly to communities, combining anti-drug awareness with youth participation, family engagement and social action. Led by District Collector Dr Amit Yadav and Superintendent of Police Harishankar, the campaign is seeking to make the fight against substance abuse a wider community effort.

As part of the campaign, an awareness programme was organised at Krishna Gaushala in Sardarpura Bika, bringing together villagers, students, young people and social workers.

A special awareness play by the Red Art Theatre Group, under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, highlighted the impact of drug abuse on young people and families. Through theatre and storytelling, the programme portrayed the distress caused to parents and the damage addiction can inflict on family relationships and the future of young people.

The programme also placed emphasis on the role of families in preventing substance abuse. Artists urged children to value their parents and protect family trust, while girls attending the programme pledged to uphold their parents’ trust and give importance to family dialogue while taking important decisions.

The campaign extended into visible community action, with around 1,100 saplings planted during the programme. Villagers, young people and social workers participated, with emphasis on caring for the saplings and ensuring their survival.

A blood donation camp was also organised, with villagers and young people participating.

Through such initiatives, the Sri Ganganagar administration is broadening the Nasha Mukt Sri Ganganagar campaign beyond awareness, using community participation to address drug abuse while encouraging greater responsibility towards families, society and the environment.
