Nasscom and UIDAI join hands to boost DeepTech innovation in digital identity

New Delhi: The National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to strengthen India’s DeepTech startup ecosystem in the field of digital identity.

The collaboration aims to support startups working on next-generation identity technologies through UIDAI’s Scheme for Innovation and Technology Association with Aadhaar (SITAA). The initiative focuses on driving open innovation, promoting indigenisation, and developing scalable identity technology (IDTech) solutions that enhance the Aadhaar ecosystem and the broader Digital Public Infrastructure.

Under the MoU, Nasscom will facilitate access for startups to UIDAI’s incubation sandbox, allowing them to test and pilot their solutions in policy-linked environments. Startups will also have the opportunity to engage directly with ecosystem stakeholders, validate their innovations, and gain visibility in the digital identity domain.

The initiative will include curated showcases, academic outreach programmes, and structured interactions with UIDAI to help founders refine their ideas and accelerate scaling.

India currently has more than 4,000 DeepTech startups, with over 500 working in key strategic sectors including healthcare, agriculture, and space. The Nasscom–UIDAI partnership is expected to create new opportunities for these ventures to contribute to India’s growing digital identity ecosystem.
