New Delhi: Visitors to the National Zoological Park in Delhi can now navigate the zoo and book tickets more easily with the launch of the "NZP Saathi App" and new self-ticketing kiosks.
The digital initiatives were unveiled by Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh during a visit to the zoo on Saturday. The measures are aimed at improving visitor experience through technology-driven services and easier access to facilities.
Available on both Android and iOS platforms, the NZP Saathi App functions as a digital guide for visitors. It features an interactive map and smart navigation tools that help users locate animal enclosures, washrooms, buggy points, exits and other facilities across the zoo. The app also offers curated routes such as the Express Tour, Family Tour and Grand Zoo Tour, along with a personalised "My Tour" option.
The newly installed self-ticketing kiosks will allow visitors to purchase tickets through UPI-based digital payments. Free Wi-Fi connectivity has also been provided to support on-the-spot online bookings.
During the visit, Singh toured an exhibition showcasing artworks and projects created by students who participated in the zoo's Summer Vacation Programme 2026. He appreciated the students' efforts and highlighted the role of such activities in building awareness about wildlife conservation among young people.
The minister later reviewed ongoing projects and operational plans during a meeting with zoo officials and section heads. Discussions focused on improving visitor services, modernising facilities and strengthening overall management practices at the zoo.
He also inspected bird enclosures and reviewed arrangements put in place to manage the summer season for the zoo's avian population. Suggestions were offered to further improve enclosure conditions, habitat management and animal welfare standards.
At the zoo's veterinary hospital, Singh interacted with veterinarians and animal care staff, reviewing healthcare practices and treatment facilities for animals under care.
The visit concluded with an inspection of the Asiatic lion enclosure, where the minister observed lions Kartik and Karani and reviewed the management of the habitat.
The National Zoological Park said it will continue to focus on conservation education, technology-enabled visitor services and maintaining high standards of animal care and management.
