Adani Power expands rural health cover with renewed insurance scheme in coastal Karnataka

Mangaluru: Adani Power Limited has renewed its annual community health insurance scheme for residents of Yelluru and Mudarangadi gram panchayats, extending cashless medical support to thousands of families as part of its ongoing CSR efforts. The initiative, funded entirely by the Adani Foundation at a project cost of Rs 65 lakh, was marked by a healthcare outreach programme and distribution of Adani Aarogya Cards.

During the ceremony, executive director and president of the Adani Group, Kishore Alva, handed over the renewed health insurance cards to representatives of both panchayats.

The insurance scheme provides cashless treatment, hospitalisation support and emergency care at private hospitals. Alva noted that the foundation has been offering medical insurance to all households in these panchayats since 2015, contributing Rs 65 lakh annually towards the premium.

He explained that the Adani Aarogya Card covers every member of families in both panchayats with a sum assured of Rs 50,000 per family. Nearly 9,600 individuals are currently covered under the programme, amounting to a total sum insured of Rs 11,85,50,000.

Alva also highlighted the role of the foundation’s Mobile Health Internal Care Unit, which provides cashless consultations, medicines and preventive healthcare services to households across 13 neighbouring villages.
