New Delhi: Larsen & Toubro and BAE Systems have secured a contract from the Indian Army to supply the BvS10 Sindhu, an all-terrain armoured vehicle designed for difficult and diverse landscapes. According to a regulatory filing, L&T will produce the vehicle at its Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira, supported by technical and design expertise from BAE Systems Hägglunds, the original developer of the BvS10 platform.
The contract also includes “a comprehensive integrated logistics support package for initial deployment, maintenance, and life-cycle sustainment”, L&T stated in its filing to the stock exchange. The BvS10 Sindhu is an enhanced variant of the established BvS10 vehicle, adapted for high-altitude conditions, deserts, marshlands and amphibious terrain.
With this agreement, L&T strengthens its role in domestic defence manufacturing while supporting the Army’s need for mobility in demanding operational environments.
