Tesla appoints Vaibhav Taneja as the new CFO

New Delhi: Electric vehicle powerhouse Tesla has strategically chosen Vaibhav Taneja as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), following the departure of Zachary Kirkhorn. The announcement, outlined in an official company filing on Monday, underscores Tesla's commitment to its continued growth and innovation.

At 45 years old, Taneja brings substantial expertise to the role, having served as Tesla's Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) since March 2019. In this transition, Taneja's responsibilities expand to encompass both his existing CAO position and the role of CFO. This move arrives as Kirkhorn steps down after an impressive 13-year tenure as Tesla's finance chief.

Under Kirkhorn's guidance, Tesla witnessed a period of remarkable expansion, solidifying its status as a pioneering force in the electric vehicle industry. The company filing expressed gratitude for Kirkhorn's substantial contributions, noting that he will remain with Tesla to ensure a seamless transition until year-end.

In a LinkedIn post, Kirkhorn shared his perspective on stepping away from the CFO role. He expressed profound pride in his 13-year journey with Tesla, highlighting the accomplishments and groundbreaking milestones achieved during his tenure. He commended the dedication and fervor of Tesla's workforce and acknowledged Elon Musk's influential leadership.

Taneja's trajectory within Tesla includes his roles as CAO since 2019 and as Corporate Controller since 2018. His prior experience encompasses pivotal roles at SolarCity Corporation, a solar panel developer acquired by Tesla in 2016. Preceding his tenure at Tesla, Taneja contributed to the finance sector at PricewaterhouseCoopers in both India and the United States.
