Ajit Kumar Panda named next CONCOR CMD

New Delhi: Ajit Kumar Panda is set to be appointed as the next Chairman and Managing Director of Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), following his selection by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), marking a key leadership transition at the state-run logistics major.

The PESB, the government’s headhunter for top PSU roles, recommended Panda for the top post after a selection meeting held on April 18, 2026. He currently serves as Director (Projects & Services) at CONCOR and has played a key role in driving the company’s infrastructure expansion and service operations.

An engineering graduate from National Institute of Technology Rourkela with a management qualification from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, Panda brings decades of experience in rail-linked logistics, inland container depots and multimodal supply chain operations. He is also a two-time recipient of the Railway Minister’s National Award for Outstanding Service.

His appointment is subject to approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), following which he will formally take charge.

Container Corporation of India, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, is a key player in India’s containerised cargo movement, operating a nationwide network of inland container depots and terminals. Panda is expected to steer the company at a time when the logistics sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by multimodal integration, infrastructure push and policy initiatives such as PM Gati Shakti.
