Kolkata: Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., a diversified Miniratna Category I Public Sector Enterprise (PSE) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, has added another feather to its cap. The company’s Strategic Business Unit (SBU): Chemicals has been awarded the prestigious Silver Award at the India Green Manufacturing Challenge (IGMC) 2024.

 

This significant recognition underscores the unit’s steadfast commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and innovation in its operations. The award highlights Balmer Lawrie’s efforts to integrate eco-friendly practices and prioritize green manufacturing in its facilities.

 

Organized by the International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM), Mumbai, the IGMC is a prominent platform that acknowledges manufacturers demonstrating consistent strides in sustainability. As part of the selection process, IRIM conducted a comprehensive audit of Balmer Lawrie’s Manali Plant in Chennai, thoroughly evaluating its green manufacturing initiatives.

 

The Chemicals team at Balmer Lawrie has continually focused on adopting environmentally conscious and greener manufacturing techniques, aligning with the company’s broader sustainability goals.
