New Delhi: BEML Limited (formerly Bharat Earth Movers Limited) has secured a fresh order worth ₹293.81 crore from the Ministry of Defence for the supply of 150 indigenously developed High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) in a 6x6 configuration.
The vehicles will be produced at BEML’s manufacturing facilities in Palakkad and Mysore, with additional support from other units depending on operational needs. This contract adds to BEML’s long-standing contribution to strengthening India’s defence logistics through homegrown technology.
Built for deployment in extreme conditions, the HMV 6x6 is equipped with features such as an independent suspension system, high-power air-cooled engine, central tyre inflation system, anti-lock braking system (ABS), and a backbone tube chassis. These enhancements are designed to boost mobility, safety, and reliability across rough terrain and high-altitude environments.
“This order showcases BEML’s expertise and capacity in delivering advanced indigenous products that enhance India’s defence infrastructure. It also reinforces our ongoing support for the Government of India’s Make in India initiative and our mission to empower the nation’s armed forces with high-quality, indigenously developed solutions,” said BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy.
The HMV 6x6 will support various defence operations, including transportation of personnel and equipment in challenging terrains, contributing to improved mobility and logistical support for the armed forces.
This development is another step in BEML’s broader role in advancing India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing and infrastructure.
