New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL), a premier consultancy under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, along with its subsidiary Certification Engineers International Limited (CEIL), has played a key role in the completion of the Chenab Rail Bridge, now recognised as the highest railway arch bridge in the world.
Rising 35 metres above the height of the Eiffel Tower, the bridge was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hailed it as an “engineering marvel” and a reflection of “the strength, vision, and capability of a new India.”
EIL and CEIL delivered comprehensive engineering consultancy and stringent quality assurance services throughout the project. The two organisations deployed advanced technologies such as Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and other modern Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques to validate structural integrity and safety at every stage.
The Chenab Rail Bridge, built across challenging Himalayan terrain, is a vital component of a strategic rail link and a new benchmark in complex infrastructure execution. According to EIL and CEIL, the project is “a moment of immense pride” and “reflects India’s rising capabilities in advanced infrastructure and engineering design.”
Now complete, the bridge is set to function not only as a critical transport link but also as a striking landmark and potential tourist destination. With the national flag flying high above it, the Chenab Rail Bridge stands as a new symbol of India’s engineering ambition.
