New Delhi: Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya and the Defence Research and Development Organisation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop smart technologies for India’s defence ecosystem. The agreement was formalised in New Delhi in the presence of DRDO Chairman and Defence R&D Secretary Samir V. Kamat. He said the collaboration would speed up the creation of technological solutions for indigenous defence systems.

The partnership will focus on research in logistics management, operational logistics at tactical, operational and strategic levels, chip design, hardware security, and emerging encryption technologies such as homomorphic and blockchain-based systems.

Both institutions will work together on joint studies, workshops, conferences, seminars and capacity-building programmes aimed at enhancing expertise in military sciences, logistics and advanced technical research. The MoU was signed by GSV Vice Chancellor Manoj Choudhary and DRDO’s Lal Chand Mangal.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya already collaborates with the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy on research and academic programmes in logistics and supply chain management. The new partnership with DRDO strengthens the university’s role in defence-focused innovation and expands its research opportunities.

Established in 2022 under an Act of Parliament, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya operates under the Ministry of Railways. It is India’s first university dedicated to the transportation and logistics sector, covering railways, highways, aviation, maritime systems, ports, shipping, inland waterways and urban transport. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, serves as its Chancellor.
