Sindri: In a major step towards community development and environmental responsibility, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) and the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 4, 2025, under HURL’s Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) initiative.
The MoU aims to illuminate approximately 30 kilometres of Sindri town with energy-efficient LED street lights and high mast lighting systems, at an estimated cost of ₹10.29 crore. This project is expected to enhance public safety, improve energy efficiency, and contribute significantly to urban infrastructure development in the region.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Dr Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director, HURL; Vice President (HR); Business Unit Head (Sindri); Municipal Commissioner, DMC; and Additional Municipal Commissioner, DMC. Their presence highlighted the spirit of collaboration and a shared commitment to community welfare and sustainable development.
The day continued with a Van Mahotsav tree plantation drive, where employees and dignitaries took part in greening the campus. Specially designed T-shirts were distributed to employees, promoting unity and awareness, followed by a guided visit to HURL’s plant, showcasing its operational capabilities.
The events reflected HURL’s commitment to social responsibility, environmental care, and inclusive development — lighting not just the streets of Sindri, but also the way forward for a greener, brighter future.
