New Delhi: NHPC Limited, a leading hydropower company under the Ministry of Power, has fully commissioned its 300 MW grid-connected solar power project at Karnisar, Bikaner, Rajasthan.

According to a filing with stock exchanges, the company has declared the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for the entire 300 MW capacity effective October 16, 2025, following the receipt of the Certificate of Successful Trial Run Completion for the fifth and final phase of 85.72 MW on October 10, 2025.

The project received approval from the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) on October 16, 2025, completing the full commissioning process. The Bikaner solar project reflects NHPC’s ongoing efforts to expand into renewable energy and contributes to India’s energy transition objectives. The initiative is part of the company’s plan to grow its renewable energy portfolio beyond hydropower, supporting the national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power capacity by 2030.
