Faridabad: NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NHPC REL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NHPC Limited, and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) have entered into a strategic partnership to implement Rooftop Solar Projects (RTS Projects) on government buildings of Central Ministries, States, and Union Territories.
This initiative is part of the ambitious PM Surya Ghar Yojna Scheme, which aims to achieve 100% solarisation of government-owned buildings by December 2025. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed on July 17, 2024, at the NHPC Office Complex in Faridabad. The MoU was signed by S.P. Rathour, CEO of NHPC REL, and Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD of TPREL. The signing ceremony was attended by R.P. Goyal, CMD; Sh. R.K. Chaudhary, Director (Technical & Projects); Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel); V.R. Shrivastava, Executive Director (REGH); Sandeep Kumar, Executive Director (CMD-Sectt.); and Anuj Kapoor, Executive Director (Finance) from NHPC.
Representatives from TPREL included Bhavesh Bhayani and Vikrant Dhankhar. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has designated NHPC as a Scheme Implementing Partner (SIP) to execute the RTS Projects. These projects will be carried out through NHPC REL, leveraging the expertise of TPREL, a leader in the solar power sector, to ensure timely and efficient implementation.This collaboration aims to transform India's energy landscape by promoting a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
By utilising the available rooftop space on government buildings, the partnership between NHPC REL and TPREL will not only contribute to the nation's renewable energy targets but also set a precedent for sustainable practices in public infrastructure. /BI
