New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has been accorded Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) status by the Government of India. The decision, communicated through an official order dated October 28, 2025, marks an important milestone in the company’s growth journey.
The upgraded categorisation reflects NGEL’s expanding role in India’s renewable energy ecosystem, supported by its operational scale, financial performance, and contribution to the country’s green energy goals.
Headquartered in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, NGEL leads the NTPC Group’s renewable energy portfolio, which includes solar, wind, and green hydrogen projects. The company plays a crucial part in helping NTPC achieve its target of 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
The Schedule ‘A’ classification is expected to provide NGEL with enhanced operational autonomy and greater flexibility in strategic decision-making. This move is likely to accelerate project execution and boost competitiveness in India’s fast-evolving renewable energy sector.
