New Delhi: The NTPC Group has announced that its total installed capacity has crossed the 83,000 MW mark with the commissioning of a 100 MW solar power project under NTPC Green Energy. With the new project coming into commercial operation, the Group’s cumulative capacity now stands at 83,026 MW.
The 100 MW solar project is part of a larger 500 MW capacity being developed by IRCON Renewable Power Limited (IRPL). The project is a joint venture in which a group company of NTPC Green Energy holds a stake, strengthening the linkage between NTPC and renewable energy developers.
With this latest addition, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) now has a total commercial capacity of 7,372.575 MW. The growing portfolio highlights NTPC’s strategy of expanding its renewable energy base alongside conventional power projects, in line with national goals of clean energy transition.
The NTPC Group has been steadily ramping up investments in solar and wind power projects while also pursuing hybrid and round-the-clock renewable energy models. The company continues to diversify its energy mix to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and support India’s commitments to reducing carbon emissions.
