Bhubaneshwar: NTPC Kaniha has constructed and handed over a newly built community hall in Hariharpur village, located in Kaniha Block, Angul District, Odisha, as part of its CSR initiatives. The inauguration ceremony took place on 1st September 2024, with active participation from local villagers and dignitaries.
The event was attended by Rudra Narayan Pany, Member of Parliament for Dhenkanal, Odisha, who served as the Chief Guest. Ashok Mohanty, MLA from Pallahara, and Ashok Kumar Sehgal, Head of Project at NTPC Kaniha, were also present, along with other NTPC officials and local representatives, including Navneet Kumar, Head of HR, NTPC Kaniha, and Deeptimayee Pradhan, Sarpanch of Hariharpur Gram Panchayat.
During the ceremony, Rudra Narayan Pany commended NTPC Kaniha for its efforts in supporting the socio-economic development of the region. He highlighted the importance of such projects in improving the quality of life for residents in project-affected villages. Ashok Mohanty emphasised the community hall’s role as a versatile space for cultural activities, meetings, and social events.
Ashok Kumar Sehgal reiterated NTPC’s commitment to the development of surrounding areas, noting the company's focus on education, healthcare, water and sanitation, rural infrastructure, and skill enhancement. The event also featured the unveiling of a solar-powered drinking water system installed by NTPC Kaniha, which will serve the village's water needs. /BI
