New Delhi: NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has commenced the commercial supply of solar power from the initial capacity of 37.50 MW at the Gujarat Solar PV Project in Sadla. This development marks a step forward in NTPC's renewable energy journey, with operations beginning on 21 December 2024.
According to a regulatory filing, this project forms part of a 200 MW solar installation being developed by NTPC REL under NTPC Green Energy Ltd. The filing states, "The first part capacity of 37.50 MW from the 200 MW Gujarat Solar PV Project in Sadla, Gujarat, operated by NTPC REL, a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd through NTPC Green Energy Ltd, is now in commercial operation as of December 21, 2024."
With this, NTPC Group’s total installed and commercial capacity has reached 76,598.18 MW, highlighting its continued expansion in India's energy sector. The company has ambitious plans to achieve 50% of its electricity generation from non-fossil fuel sources by 2032, aiming to build a renewable energy capacity of 60 GW by the same year.
The Sadla project is another milestone in NTPC’s efforts to support India's transition to sustainable energy, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to expanding its renewable portfolio while contributing to the nation's green energy goals.
