New Delhi: In recognition of its exemplary efforts in energy conservation, Maharatna ONGC has been conferred with the ‘Best Overall Performance Award’ in ‘Upstream/Midstream Sector’ for oil and gas conservation activities during Saksham-2021. The award was received by ONGC CMD Dr Alka Mittal at the inaugural ceremony of Saksham-2022 on April 11, 2022.
In her message, Dr Mittal said: “ONGC is committed to progressively reducing the energy intensity of our oil-field operations. This is achieved by improving our energy performance and demonstrating excellence in energy management in all our activities by spreading awareness, promoting and adopting conservation of energy and natural resources.”
The event was also graced by ONGC Director, Technology and Field Services, Om Prakash Singh, Pankaj Jain of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) and several other senior officials of oil and gas industry.
‘Saksham’ is a month-long awareness campaign on fuel conservation organized by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under the aegis of MoPNG to sensitize citizens on the need for energy conservation.
During the month-long awareness campaign, several programs are organized for school children, youth, housewives, cooks, maids, drivers, fleet operations, industry employees, farmers, residential societies, Gram Panchayats, NGOs, etc., to stress on the need for energy conservation. Special emphasis will also be laid on the dissemination of information pertaining to the achievements and initiatives of the MoPNG. /BI/
