New Delhi: Praveen Kumar has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL).
Kumar, an Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer from the 1989 batch, is a Civil Engineering graduate from IIT Roorkee and holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from MDI Gurugram. His appointment follows the recommendation of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) and has been finalised by the appointment committee.
DFCCIL, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) under the Ministry of Railways (MoR), Government of India (GoI), was established in October 2006. The corporation’s mandate includes building, operating, and maintaining dedicated freight railway lines along the Golden Quadrilateral and its diagonals. DFCCIL is responsible for constructing high-capacity and high-speed freight corridors and is wholly owned by the GoI through the MoR. /BI
