New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has solidified strategic collaborations through two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). The agreements were inked with IIT Roorkee and the University of Birmingham, focusing on skill development in Railway signaling, Telecommunication, ICT, and the development of Digital Twin for Railway Operation & Maintenance.
The MoUs were formalized during the inaugural ceremony of the IRSE International Railway Convention 2023, with Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel, exchanging documents with Prof. K. K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Clive Roberts, Director, University of Birmingham. The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Darshana Jardosh, Hon'ble Minister of State for Railways and Textile, and Jaya Verma Sinha, Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, among others.
The collaboration with IIT Roorkee involves the launch of professional courses at RailTel's Center of Excellence, accompanied by extensive research and development activities. Additionally, a Center for Safety Assessment will be established, strengthening the partnership.
The alliance with the University of Birmingham opens avenues for leveraging cutting-edge technology, such as Digital Twin, in the proactive management of Railway operations and maintenance. These strategic partnerships underscore RailTel's commitment to innovation and excellence in the railway industry. /BI/
